Helping keep Kent Small Business useful, accurate and trustworthy

Our aim is simple: to create a directory that people can trust and businesses are proud to be part of.

About these guidelines

These guidelines explain what can be listed on Kent Small Business and the standards we expect from every business.

Who can create a listing?

To create or manage a listing, you must:

  • Be the owner of the business, or have permission from the owner to act on their behalf.
  • Provide accurate business information.
  • Comply with our Business Listing Terms and all applicable laws.

If we believe a listing has been submitted without permission, we may suspend or remove it while we investigate.

Listing standards

Please make sure your listing:

  • Accurately represents your business.
  • Includes genuine contact details.
  • Contains useful, customer-focused information.
  • Is kept reasonably up to date.
  • Is written for people, not search engines.

Listings that appear misleading, incomplete or primarily created to manipulate search results may be edited, rejected or removed.

Photos and logos

Images should:

  • Represent your business, products or services.
  • Be clear and good quality.
  • Be suitable for all audiences.
  • Belong to you or be used with permission.

We may remove images that are misleading, offensive or infringe copyright.

Business offers

Offers are a great way to attract new customers, but they must be clear and genuine.

Every offer should:

  • Provide genuine value.
  • Clearly explain any important conditions.
  • Include an expiry date.
  • Remain available until the advertised expiry date.

Offers must not be limited to a fixed number of customers, such as "first 20 customers", as offers may remain visible until they expire.

We may edit, reject or remove offers that don't meet these guidelines.

Listings we may refuse or remove

We may refuse, suspend or remove listings that include:

  • False or misleading information.
  • Duplicate listings.
  • Spam or excessive promotional content.
  • Offensive, abusive or inappropriate material.
  • Illegal products or services.
  • Businesses promoting pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing (MLM) or similar recruitment-based business models.
  • Content that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights.
  • Businesses that appear to have permanently ceased trading.

This list isn't exhaustive. We may remove or refuse other listings where we believe it's necessary to protect the quality, integrity or reputation of Kent Small Business.

Our review process

Every listing is reviewed before it is published. Submitting a listing doesn't guarantee approval.

We may:

  • Request additional information.
  • Suggest improvements.
  • Correct obvious spelling or formatting mistakes.
  • Move a listing into a more suitable category.
  • Refuse or remove a listing that doesn't meet these guidelines.

Our review helps maintain the quality of the directory. It shouldn't be taken as confirmation that we've independently verified a business, its qualifications, insurance or services.

Keeping your listing up to date

You're responsible for keeping your listing accurate.

If your business changes, please update your listing as soon as possible.

Reporting a listing

If you believe a listing contains inaccurate information, infringes copyright or breaches these guidelines, please report it to us.

We'll review every report and take appropriate action where necessary.
